TAKE A PEEK AT THE WEEK!

March 9th-13th


REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK:


  • This Tuesday, Fr. Craig will visit 3rd Grade at 1:00.
  • Our class has filled out their Positivity Class Sticker Chart so we will be having our class party on Thursday! 
  • Stations of the Cross is this Friday at 2:30.
  • April 16th from 9:30-10:30 is the ROAD dance performance for our 3rd graders!
  • April 17th will be the Pen Friend Gathering from 10:30-11:30 in the Parish Hall.
  • April 23rd is our field trip to Royals Stadium.
  • April 30th is our field trip to the symphony with Mrs. Hetherington.


HERE’S WHAT WE ARE WORKING ON THIS WEEK!


ELA (English Language Arts)

  • Reading - Boom Town (Historical Fiction)

    • Comprehension Skill - Main Ideas and Details, Fact and Opinion

  • Grammar - Present-Tense Verbs

  • Read Aloud: Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing

  • Spelling - We DO NOT have a Spelling List this week!

  • **All students should have a book considered “just right” for their reading level at all times. Please make sure they are logging their reading on the "Reading Log" sheet.


"Who Was?" Project will be kicking off this week. 

  •  Students will pick a "Who Was?" biography book to complete a project on. They will be collecting information on their person, putting together a booklet, and ending with a "Wax Museum" where they will dress up as their character and give a speech on their life.

  • All students should have their book picked out by the end of the week so they can start reading over Spring Break :)

  • There are a variety of Who Was? books at our school library, the Johnson County library, and most of them are only $4 on Amazon!

 

Math

Chapter 11: Perimeter and Area

Chapter 11 Test will be on Tuesday!

We will be reviewing Multiplication, Division, and Fractions this week in preparation for Spring testing.

Please encourage your kids to use "Khan Academy" for multiplication, division, and fractions practice. Usernames and passwords have been sent home. Students should be practicing multiplication and division facts every night for 15 minutes! 


Religion 

  • Lent: Fasting, Prayer, Almsgiving

 

Science

Unit 7: Weather and Patterns

  • Lesson 3: What are some severe weather impacts? 

  • Students will begin their Hazardous Weather Project this week

  • Lesson 4: What are some types of climates?
